Where to begin? I guess the similarities are easier to list than the differences. They both use raised beds and they both plant seeds closely together. Other than that, everything else is different. Mini Farming doesn't delineate individual square feet, use Mel's "perfect soil mix" or water each square foot separately by hand. These work great for a couple of 4'x4' beds; but when you get to 500 square feet or more of beds, they just take too much time and cost too much money. The hand-watering of individual square feet works fine for 32 square feet and only takes 15 minutes. But when you multiply that by the number of beds needed for a self sufficiency enterprise - it turns into 4 or 5 hours a day. That's just not sensible. This shouldn't be taken as a criticism of Mel's methods - his methods are great. They are just aimed at a different objective.
