Question :
Here is my question: I have a java serversocket application staying on a windows machine, and listening a certain port say 1111. Can I using other window's application (written in Delphi, for example) to connect this java socket and send information to, or receive response from this java application? I tried, however, I can't read anything from a client( written in Delphi).

It shouldn't make a difference what language you write your server/clients in so long as they use TCP/IP sockets. Are you sure that you are not, for example, trying to create a server socket on both ends? One application, your Java one in this example, should open a ServerSocket, and the other a Socket. Are you doing this? The next thing to check is are you definitely not getting any data across or is one or the other simply not recognising the message structure? Are you getting any exceptions thrown (e.g. BindException in Java) that might indicate that the port is in use? Are you specifying the same hostname:port combination in both apps?

    A SocketChannel that has registered with the Selector showing interest in both OP_READ|OP_WRITE I would expect the select() method to continously return showing that the channel isWritable() until the network write queue fills up (like the select() call in c).

    This is the behavior I see in Linux. However with Windows I see it return once showing isWritable, then it blocks, and does not show isWritable again, even after a isReadable shows up.

    Whats up with this? should this behavior be platform dependent? (I am using the release build 1.4.0-b92).

    e.g. The following code snippet on Linux continously prints out "Got Write" as expected, but on Win32 it prints it once then blocks.

    int n=;
    System.out.println("Returned from select: " + n);
    Set readyKeys= selector.selectedKeys();

    for(Iterator i= readyKeys.iterator(); i.hasNext();){
    SelectionKey key= (SelectionKey);

    System.out.println("Got Accept");
    System.out.println("Got Read")
    System.out.println("Got Write");

    I'm looking for information on how to write a java program that uses a http url connection object to request data from a servlet... however, I don't want to construct a new tcp/ip connection every time I create a request.

    Can anyone point me to a resource that explains how to do that? I understand that HTTP/1.1 provides for this ability, but I have not found any definative information on how to implement it.
